Published July 30, 2010Doesn’t happy very often, in fact we usually don’t even try to save engineered wood but we did. We installed this wood floor drying system with a dehumidifier and the floors were restored.
Saved Engineered Wood Floor
Published July 16, 2010Good news, bad news. The installer didn’t use enough glue which allowed the water to creep under the floor. Fortunately though, it also caused the glue to fail which allowed us to actually lift the wood floor up, and force air under it to dry it. Doesn’t happen very often but we were able save the engineered wood floor with 3 days of drying.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
Published May 21, 2010The last 3 water damages we dryed, all had the same source. They were all fresh water from a toilet. They all could have been avoided. They all had a defective flapper shut off for the fresh water supply tank.
Normally the top flapper isn’t a problem… unless there’s a clog on the flush and the fresh water has no where to go. Of all the water and moisture removal I have done during the last 8 to 9 years, this situation is the cause about 70% of the time.
Why am I telling you this? So when YOUR flapper IS defective, you’ll remember this and not drag your feet with replacing the flapper kit.
Pier & Beam
Published May 6, 2010Just finished this fresh water damage on a pier & beam structure. It took 5 days to dry the wood sub-floor and to dry the drywall. Removed a 4 foot x 8 foot wood panel to open up the crossspace and remove the wet insullation from under the house.
